The Canadian Mental Health Association


The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Hastings & Prince Edward Counties Branch, is a non-profit agency that strives to enhance the mental wellness and quality of life of people in our geographically diverse community. Through [their] direct services, education, advocacy, and consumer involvement,\ work together to create an environment that supports mental well-being” (CMHA, 2013).

Children’s Mental Health Services


Children’s Mental Health Services (CMHS) is an Accredited Children’s Mental Health Agency dedicated to serving children, youth and their families in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties…[CMHS is] staffed by a team of Professionals who are responsible for providing a wide range of therapeutic services that are voluntary, client-focused, responsive to client needs, flexible and community based” (CMHS, 2013).

Maggie’s Resource Centre (MRC)


Maggie’s Resource Centre (MRC) is dedicated to serving women and children in North Hastings. “Services offered include Crisis Intervention, Safety Planning, Transitional Housing Support, Counseling, Safe Placement and transportation for women and their children leaving abusive relationships, Advocacy, and Referrals to health, legal and income support resource centres and advocacy with legal and social services” (MRC, 2013).

Mental Health Canada


Mental Health Canada provides articles, educational resources, and information on a wide variety of mental health topics. Topics include various mental diseases and disorders, medications, and crisis intervention.

Mental Health Services Hastings Prince Edward


Mental Health Services Hastings Prince Edward provides services and support to individuals sixteen and older who are affected by severe and persistent mental illness. Services are provided in the client’s home environment, office setting and community” (MHS, 2013).

Mental Health Support Network


The Mental Health Support Network (MHSN) provides support and services within South East Ontario to people who are experiencing Mental Health issues and seeking peer support as a way of managing and working toward being well (MHSN, 2010). Anyone 16 years of age or over, is welcome to access one of the 8 Support Centres (MHSN, 2013). Bancroft’s support centre is called Lifehouse.



NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need” (NAMI, 2013).



NHCIA works closely with many community services, groups, schools, and businesses to offer individualized supports to children, youth and adults with an intellectual disability and their families” (NHCIA, 2013).
